High Force Education offers high quality training for graduates wishing to teach in primary schools. The one-year full time course leads to Qualified Teacher Status and the award of a Post Graduate Certificate of Education or a Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (validated by the University of Northumbria at Newcastle). Those opting for the Post Graduate Certificate in Education route will be awarded with 60 credits towards a Masters. Those following this option will be able to undertake further study units during their early career to obtain a Masters degree.

High Force Education aims to produce confident, skilled, enthusiastic and innovative practitioners able to teach the age range from 5 to 11. Students will be trained in the effective teaching of all Core and Foundation subjects, the wider curriculum and other current educational issues as well as developing excellent ICT skills.

The course structure provides in-school teaching placements and assessed practices, and time in the 'Central Study and Support Area' (CSSA). Students follow the taught part of the course on Monday and Tuesday in the CSSA and then have time in the classrooms of a range of schools during Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of most weeks. This enables Students to implement and develop the skills, knowledge, attitudes and values learnt during the earlier part of that week.

The CSSA, based in Green Lane Church of England Primary School, is equipped with a large suite of PCs with Internet access, together with a library and resource centre. The library contains a range of key texts, journals, periodicals, schemes of work, published schemes of work, guidance documents and practical teaching resources. A virtual learning environment (VLE) attached to our website is the main source of information for Students. In addition to the ICT suite each student is given the opportunity to loan a Laptop for the duration of the course.

The VLE contains on-line journals, research evidence, Ofsted reports, course outlines, timetables, individual lesson plans for all taught lectures, lecture notes, details of school timetables, exemplar lesson plans, inspection evidence and hyperlinks to other useful web sites.
