Applying and Selection Procedure

We are looking for applicants who can demonstrate their ability to communicate clearly and grammatically in spoken and written Standard English. They must possess the personal and intellectual qualities to be teachers. We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate confidence and a strong desire to teach. They must have an understanding of the heavy workload, be able to meet deadlines and enjoy working as part of a team. It is essential that you gain some insight into what is involved in being a teacher by spending time in a school and speaking with current teachers.

All applications must be made through the GTTR online application site. The closing date for all applicant to be given equal opportunity for shortlisting is December 1st, after this date the selection procedure is based on a 'first come, first served' basis with applications being received from the GTTR on a weekly basis. Interview dates are set throughout the year. Applicants who meet the course entry requirements are systematically allocated the next free interview date. This could result in a candidate not being interviewed for a period of time. We cannot predict at what time of the year all places will be filled as not all applicants successfully pass the interview. Once all places have been filled, candidates still to be interviewed will be informed, offering them a place on the reserve list subject to successfully passing the interview.

Candidates who are successful at interview will be required to complete a Health Declaration form and a Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) Enhanced Disclosure form. There will be details sent to all candidates listing what they should bring with them on the day of interview.

Any offer of a place on the course is conditional on satisfactory results being obtained from the Health Declaration and CRB check.

High Force SCITT is committed to equality of opportunity for all and does not discriminate on the grounds of race, gender, sexual orientation, age disability, religion or socio-economic circumstances.
